Panmure is one of the oldest golf clubs in the world dating back to 1845, and is one of the twenty six clubs that originally helped purchase the Amateur Championship trophy first played for in 1885. Panmure are very proud of their traditions, the Clubhouse and most of all, the Golf Course which combines the best elements of links and heath, with tight fairways, challenging carries and compact, undulating greens.
Situated between the Courses of Monifieth and Carnoustie on the east coast of Scotland this James Braid influenced Golf Course is approximately 8 miles from Dundee 20 miles from St Andrews and within easy travelling distance of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow.

Old Scots pines and sandhills forged by nature give the terrain an enduring quality in keeping with the Club’s long history. Hallmarks such as the ‘Hogan’ hole (the sixth) and the Buddon Burn (the twelfth) conspire to give you a round of golf to remember and the old clubhouse, as a backdrop to the last three holes, beckons you home.
The quality of the course has been recognised several times over the years with many significant competitions being staged on the course including local and national amateur championships and final qualifying for the Open Championship on many occasions. In 2016 we hosted The World Hickory Championship for the second time and it was won again by Sandy Lyle MBE. In 2017 we conferred Honorary membership on Sandy Lyle not only for those victories but for being an Open and Masters champion.
The Clubhouse is one of the finest old golf buildings in Scotland. Its unique and delightful lounges are full of character. Devotees of the history of golf will be interested to know of our origins, borne of the close trading relationship between Dundee and Calcutta in the halcyon days of the Jute Industry with the clubhouse being modelled on that of Royal Calcutta Golf Club. Friendly staff afford a real Scottish welcome and good food and wine will complete your day here.
Panmure is regularly rated by golf publications amongst the Top 40 courses in Scotland, “The Home of Golf” and also the top 100 in the United Kingdom.
