Named after their stunning vistas, these Suites offer some of the best views in the Scottish capital, looking out towards the rugged castle on the 700-million-year-old extinct volcano, Castle Rock. A nod to our Scottish home, our four Grand Suites are named Braemar, Stirling, Dunrobin, and Tay. Each is distinct, with a unique blend of contemporary and heritage accents, from objets d’art and the luxurious tartan in the upholstery to the elegant colour palette in soothing shades of blue that evoke our lochs. Moving through the suite, past the separate sleeping and living areas adorned with elegant furnishings and featuring their own turreted alcoves, guests can gaze out of the large windows for extraordinary views of Arthur’s Seat or Carlton Hill. The generous bathrooms are also flooded with natural light, illuminating the fine Italian marble and the separate bathtub and shower, stocked with a luxurious range of Asprey toiletries.

Looking out towards the Scott Monument, the rich greenery of Princes Street Gardens, and up to the majesty of Edinburgh Castle, our Castle View Suites offer some of the most privileged views in the Scottish capital. Each of these stylish suites is named after a Scottish river or castle. From the shades of blue that evoke the waters of our lochs and the rich tartan in the upholstery to the objets d’art inspired by the natural world and the works of literature on the bookshelves, these suites are a beguiling blend of art, culture and classic elegance. Adding to the grandeur, the suites have Italian marble bathrooms flooded with natural light.
Bowes-Lyon Suite (views over Princes Street)
Named for and inspired by former patron of The Balmoral, The Queen Mother, born Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Bowes-Lyon Suite aptly blends heritage and modernity, style and character.
With its unusual layout and large, porthole-style windows, this suite is unique and full of character, much like its namesake. Inside the salon, sofas of exquisite green velvet and leafy drapes evoke the verdant countryside, while superb views over Princes Street place the suite firmly in the context of the Scottish capital.
The charming dining area, bathed in natural light is perfect for breakfast or pre-dinner canapés, whilst a classic hardwood desk offers space for more serious pursuits. Soothing tones of heather create a relaxing ambiance in the bedroom, where a king-sized bed complemented by designer throws and soft lighting from stylish lamps promises a restful night’s sleep.
J.K. Rowling Suite (Calton Hill)
Our elegant J.K. Rowling Suite beautifully blends contemporary design accents with unique features to magical effect. Enter the suite, past the owl door knocker, and walk through the star-filled entranceway into the lounge. From the marble bust of Hermes that J.K. Rowling signed when she finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this very suite, to the antique furnishings, this light-flooded space is adorned with quirky items. Large windows reveal stunning views of Calton Hill, while turreted alcoves add charm.
Glamis Suite (views the full length of Princess Street)
Named after Scotland’s most beautiful castle and the childhood home of The Queen Mother, our newly refurbished Glamis Suite evokes the majesty of its namesake in every carefully chosen design detail.
Large windows cast natural light upon the spacious salon, with its magnificent velvet sofas, tasteful antiques and original fireplace, and the sophisticated dining room, with its Scottish baronial furniture and antique chandelier, provides an elegant area for entertaining. Historic period features including ornate cornicing are complemented by exquisite drapes and wallpapers, whilst hand-picked collections of books and records make this spacious haven homely.
In the Arabascato marble bathroom, discover a free-standing bath and roomy walk-in shower stocked with exquisite Asprey toiletries, while in the bedroom, a king-sized bed with full-height, half-tester drapes promises a regal night’s sleep. Scone & Crombie Suite (view over the historic old town)
Palatial in both inspiration and spirit, the iconic Scone & Crombie Suite is named after the stunning Scottish palace and the historic Crombie Castle in Aberdeenshire. From the custom-made tapestry Devonshire Swans wallpaper in the entrance hall—ideal for discrete, private check-ins or private dinners—to the rich fabrics and opulent furnishings used throughout the grand and generous space, the presidential suite is decorated with a nod to the city’s royal connections.
Elegantly complementing the design, the colour scheme is serene with shades of delicate blue and grey, evoking Scottish skies and lochs, and a dash of soft yellow, like wild gorse, in the bedroom. Botanical, natural accents are woven throughout, while the floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with light reveal the skyline of the city’s Old Town as a compelling contrast. For added decadence, the living room has a working fireplace and the spacious Italian marble and mosaic bathroom features a freestanding bathtub, a separate shower and luxurious Asprey toiletries.
